Kilmarnock is an industrial town built up in an area historically used for mining, unfortunatly in recent years Kilmarnock'a main industries have taken a turn for the worst, with pressure coming in from the surrounding areas the commercial shopping in Kilmarnock has also started to die. The town does however have some very nice parks such as Howard Park and also many primary schools.
Kilmarnock is home to Kilmarnock F.C. Scotland's oldest professional football team and is also the birthplace of William Wallace's father Malcolm Wallace. Another interesting fact about Kilmarnock is that they manufactured the carpets for the legendary ship 'Titanic'.
